Welcome Back, Halecrest Roadrunners!!!!

We are so excited to have you back for the 2022-2023 school year!

I hope everyone enjoyed their six week summer break making memories, relaxing, and having quality family time.  Staff returned last Thursday for two days of training, and the vibe on the campus is one of excitement.  We can't wait to see all of the children again and have a fresh start to the new school year!

Custodians have been busy this summer getting things ready.  Our upper playground recieved new asphalt and new benches were installed under the solar panels.

We also had a crew busy installing a new HVAC system to our school.  The metal onion shaped bulbs on top of the roofs are the new HVAC system.  We were thrilled to get this upgrade as well.

We have also had some changes in staff and new hires to Halecrest.

  • Mrs. Raquel Alvarez Lovins has moved from New Duty Supervisor to our new Instructional Aide in our TK classroom.  She will be working alongside Mrs. Esther Miranda in Room 201.
  • Ms. Vianette Mendoza-Orozco is our new TK-1st grade SDC teacher in room 501.
  • Mrs. Kristina Darcy has left us to work at the Virtual Academy here in CVESD.  She was slated to be in Kindergarten as our first grade will only have two teachers this year due to enrollment. We wish her well.
  • With Mrs. Darcy's departure, we are happy to announce we were able to bring back Ms. Alicia Cordova to Kindergarten.  Welcome back, Ms. Cordova!
  • Mrs. Rosalinda Batista has moved up to 2nd grade for the coming year.  We will have three teachers in 2nd grade.  Welcome to the team, Mrs. Batista.
  • Mrs. Briana Palacio has decided to move to Clear View Elementary, a dual immersion school.  We are going to miss her, but we are happy for her as she has been thinking about this change for a few years.
  • In Mrs. Palacio's place, our P.E. Teacher, Mr. Denis Vargas, will be moving into the open 2nd grade position.  Has has taught 2nd grade for many years prior to his becoming a P.E. teacher.  I know he is excited to be part of the 2nd grade team.
  • For Physical Education, we have just hired, Mr. Javier Sanchez.  He is a fresh graduated with a fun-loving personality.  We know he will click with students right away.  Once his paperwork clears in the Human Resources Department, he will join us in early August.
  • We have three amazing women who are joining our Noon Duty Team.  We would like to welcome Ariana Jimenez, Samantha Jones, and Teresa Valeta.  These ladies are also current and former parents of Halecrest students.  They know the staff well, and they know Halecrest well.  We are excited for these ladies to join our two other current Noon Duty Supervisors, Grizelda Human and Rebecca Quenga.
  • Our Librarian position is open and we will be interviewing in the next week or so.

We are excited to have you join us for our Ice Cream Social on Monday, July 18th from 5:00-7:00pm.

Our first day of school is Wednesday, July 20th.  The first day of school is a minimum day with dismissal for students in 1st-6th at 1:40pm.  Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten families will have orientation with their respective teachers and be dismissed as a family after the orientation.

We can't wait to see you, and we are looking forward to a tremendous year!
