July 2023

Welcome Back, Halecrest Roadrunners!!!!

We are so excited to have you back for the 2023-2024 school year!

I hope everyone enjoyed their six week summer break making memories, relaxing, and having quality family time.  We can't wait to see all of the children again and have a fresh start to the new school year!

We have a few changes in staff and new hires to Halecrest.

  • Mrs. Ellen Estrada will be teaching a 5th/6th grade combination class this year.
  • Welcome to our new hire to 5th grade, Mrs. Katelyn Lowry!  She is a dynamic teacher with a lot of energy. We are excited to have her at Halecrest!  She has already moved in and meet with the team!
  • As you know, our well loved Speech Therapist, Mr. Brandon Barron, has moved back to Georgia.  We are happy to announce, Ms. Jennifer Rowe, will be his replacement.  Ms. Rowe comes to us with 4 years of experience as a Speech Therapist in the district, and Mr. Barron met with Ms. Rowe to review all ongoing speech cases.  The transition will be a smooth one.
  • Our long-standing school nurse, Mrs. Darcie Hoogland's hours have been reallocated, and she will be shifting schools.  The district will be hiring an agency LVN to fill in at our school.  For now if you have any nursing concerns, please reach out to our Attendance/Health Secretary, Angie Buder, with any questions or concerns.

Please mark your calendars and join us for our Ice Cream Social on Monday, July 17th from 4:30-6:30pm.  Families will be informed of their new teacher on Monday, July 17th sometime in the afternoon.  Be on the lookout for an email.

Our first day of school is Wednesday, July 19th.  The first day of school is a minimum day with dismissal for students in 1st-6th at 1:40pm.  Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten families will have orientation with their respective teachers and be dismissed as a family after their orientations on Wednesday.

We can't wait to see you, and we are looking forward to a tremendous year!

Cheers!

Principal MacDonald
